Maserati GranTurismo MC Corse Concept: Photos & Video

Maserati has released the details of its new race car concept, the GranTurismo MC Corse. Developed by Maserati Racing Department engineers, the track-bound GranTurismo MC Concept is based on Maserati's flagship GranTurismo S. It comes with an upgraded engine along with a new intake system, catalytic converters and a center-exit exhaust enabling it to make 450 hp of power. Other modifications include an aero kit, 18-inch lightweight alloys, upgraded suspension and brake components and a FIA-approved rollcage.

The Maserati Corse concept features two large air intakes along with new side air vents linked to the side skirts to improve air cooling for both the engine and the front brakes. The rear fenders are now wider to accommodate larger rear tires. Plus there are twin exit exhaust pipes integrated into the rear diffuser and the suspension has been upgraded to meet the track surface with new racing shocks and large racing slicks.

The MC Concept has been stripped of almost all the interior luxury that GranTurismo S possess. This weight saving exercise allowed it to gain a FIA-approved rollcage, a sole racing seat and a Sparco racing steering wheel while still weighing less than 1,400kg.

Maserati hasn't yet disclosed if the GranTurismo MC Corse concept is just a design exercise or an actual race car that we can soon hope to see in track events.

Upcoming 2009 Cadillac CTS-V Records Sub-8 Minute Lap Time: Video

GM is nearing the completion of testing for the highly anticipated Cadillac CTS-V. It is a limited-edition high-performance model based on the Cadillac CTS sport sedan. In a recent test at Germany’s Nurburgring, a six-speed automatic (not manual) Cadillac CTS-V lapped the 13-mile track in a record time of 7:59.32. This blistering lap-time however, is still about 40 seconds short of what Nissan's GT-R set earlier this year.

John Heinricy, director of vehicle integration and a celebrated racing driver, piloted the CTS-V through its sub-8 minute lap. The General Motors is quick to point out that the car was equipped exactly as the production model will be and no modifications were made to aid in its exemplary performance.

The 09 model Cadillac CTS-V is powered by supercharged 542bhp 6.2-litre LSA V8 petrol engine making 550 pound-feet of torque at 6,200 rpm. The same unit is doing service on new Corvette ZR1 as well but there it is tuned to produce mind-boggling 638 hp horsepower. CTS-V will come with a choice of 6-speed manual or automatic transmissions and a slew of technological and engineering advancements including a new version of Cadillac’s Magnetic Ride Control (MRC) suspension, paddle-shifting, and the Performance Traction Management (PTM) system. PTM allows drivers to fully exploit the car's power by instantly matching its delivery against current traction availability.

Cadillac CTS-V production is scheduled to begin this fall and will go on sale in the UK early next year. Till then check out its fastest lap-time video below.

Mazda Release 8-Seat Biante Mini-Van For Japan

Mazda Motor Corporation, has announced its newly developed eight-seat minivan, the Mazda Biante, which will go on sale in Japan during summer 2008. The name ‘Biante’ was coined from the English word, ‘ambient,’ to create the impression of a unified interior space that contributes to an enjoyable and comfortable in-car experience for all the vehicle’s occupants.

Developed exclusively for the Japanese market, the Biante features distinctive and athletic styling. Mazda hasn't released much information about its new mini-van except for some pictures and an official video of the new Biante.

2009 BMW X6 xDrive35i and xDrive50i Videos & Photos

The new BMW X6 xDrive35i will arrive in showrooms this month with prices starting at $53,275. The xDrive50i will arrive later this summer priced at $63,775. BMW X6 for US(America) will come with two engine variants, the X6 xDrive35i will be available with a 3.0L 6-cylinder engine that produces 300-hp horsepower and 300 lb-ft of torque and the X6 xDrive50i will come with a 4.4L V8 twin-turbo that produces 400-hp horsepower and 450 lb-ft of torque . The xDrive50i does 0-60 in 5.3 seconds, the same time it takes the smaller 335i.
